You cannot turn on your radio, TV or phone without hearing about the actively charged Coronavirus! It has become a little tiresome to hear all of the hype that is taking place because of it!
We, however, would like to comment with regard not to the prefix (Corona) but the root word, Virus. It is no different than any other virus although, there is much speculation as to its origin! Either way, I have many things to protect you from or during any contact with this virus! Remember, that a weakened host is the problem not the virus that is attacking. Being stronger than the opponent is the key to success!
Here are some notes about the “flu season” to keep in mind. Influenza is also classified as a viral infection. Similar things can also be taken away from these suggestions and ideas for any virus.
Flu season is an annually recurring time period characterized by the prevalence of outbreaks of influenza (flu). The season occurs during the cold half of the year in each hemisphere. Influenza activity can sometimes be predicted and even tracked geographically. While the beginning of major flu activity in each season varies by location, in any specific location these minor epidemics usually take about 3 weeks to peak, and another 3 weeks to significantly diminish.
Dark Season My definition; when we loose access to UVB, which our latitude extends from September 22nd or 23rd to March 21st or so. No UVB = No D!!!!!
Why does that matter? No UVB=No manufacturing of Vitamin D in our skin when out in the sunshine. Why does D matter? It’s a vital hormone for our immune function, regulation and function of our glands (Adrenals, Thyroid, Liver, Ovaries, Testes) cancer prevention, brain and eye function, respiratory function (lungs), etc.
Where do we acquire it from? Sunshine, Liver, Cod Liver oil, Butter, Egg yolks (from pastured chickens of course), fat from grass-fed and finished beef, lamb and goat, oily cold water fish salmon and sardines anyone, and of course supplements.
How much do I need? According to the Vitamin D research from around the world our optimum levels should be in the neighborhood of 60-80ng/dl and some suggesting 100ng/dl. Average in the US as of 2009-2010 was still less than 30ng/dl
Get your levels tested! Get tested in the winter at some point to see where your at with your current routine whatever that may be. Then adjust accordingly and then retest in 60 days to see if you have better numbers. That way you will have a better idea of where to shoot for next winter.
Monitor your access to UVB with the free App; D Minder
This will help you with maximizing your ability to make D from smart sun exposure and also where to travel to in the winter to get your D levels up.
D preserves your C Keeping your D levels up preserves your vitamin C which is water soluble and more quickly oxidizes and therefore becomes less bioavailable.
Things I suggest to avoid infection or to alleviate any illnesses are getting adjusted by your Chiropractic Physician first and foremost to make certain your immune system is working optimally! Second, I suggest increasing your Vitamin C; I like Bio C Plus 1000 by Biotics and taking up to 6,000 mg per day for an adult. Liposomal Vitamin C by Quicksilver is a liquid form that is readily absorbed as well and is an easy delivery system for children who cannot yet swallow tablets. I know how well Liquid Vitamin D3 with K2 works to support the immune system by Ortho Molecular Products and would suggest taking that anytime but most importantly if you need to travel via plane, train or ship. There is also a children’s Vitamin D3 available as well. Bioimmunozyme Forte from Biotics are capsules that can be considered like a multiple vitamin for your immune system. I use IAG for little ones as it can be dissolved in any drink. The use of Argentyn 23 (colloidal silver) is also of great benefit when afflicted with any illness. Echinacea and Goldenseal herbs are also effective!
And I haven’t even touched on homeopathy! Everything mentioned here is available from fullscript.com with the link on our website and delivered right to your medicine cabinet, well …almost!
Remember, washing your hands often is most beneficial in the spread of any disease. Staying at home until symptoms pass is essential as well to keeping any illness from advancing! Not taking your little ones to daycare or school if any symptoms are apparent that include fever, runny nose, continued coughing and sneezing or just general malaise (tiredness). Research has shown that wearing glasses prevents people from getting sick just because it protects from direct contact through the eyes. Drinking plenty of fluids, water with lemon, herbal teas and occasional juice along with eating healthy is optimal. Keep sugar at bay! It weakens the immune system! You are fighting a battle here. Fear not, you will win if you stay strong!
All the Best in Health!
